Wilco Boode has dedicated his career to designing immersive media for practical and serious applications. He began his journey in the leisure and hospitality industry, but transitioned to game and media design in 2012. Through his education, he honed in on using game technology and immersive media for educational and practical purposes. This led him to begin working at BUas, first as a serious game designer and eventually transitioning to immersive game design. Another opportunity presented itself when he joined the BUas Experience Lab, where he focused on developing an analytical pipeline for measuring experiences and maintaining the lab’s technical capabilities.
At BUas, Wilco has had the opportunity to work with a variety of XR technologies and develop projects for virtual and augmented reality devices across various fields. Starting with designing others’ concepts, he has since 2020 been involved in executing his own self-developed concepts. These XR projects and experience measurements have led him to co-author several academic publications and host multiple workshops, courses, and lectures.
Currently, Wilco aspires to research and develop the use of AR technology in live settings, creating performances where users actively participate in the experience. His background in leisure, XR design, and experience research are the foundation for a this area of research and development.
